Prince Albert Open Gardens 2026
Prince Albert’s most beautiful gardens are once again showcasing sustainable spaces that are indigenous, water-wise, and wildlife friendly. Alluring aloe gardens, medicinal plants, garden art, veld gardens, organic vegetable farms, and regenerative spaces will be on display, with our gardeners on site to inform and engage.
We are particularly proud to announce that for the first time in the event’s four-year history, we have a couple of North End participants, Rivier Oewer Tuin and Karoo Tuin, opening inspirational spaces belonging to a community that descend from the original inhabitants of the Great Karoo who are very much one with our land.
We look forward to sharing our 2026 gardens with you.

A Wild Garden in the Making

Ancient Karoo soils and good rains have shaped a remarkable transformation on this 2.5ha farm. Starting in January 2025, guided by Renu Karoo, the land is being rewilded with grasses and indigenous plants, a living pool, a small wetland, and a walled vegetable garden feature in this work-in-progress garden.
Oasis Farm

Oasis Farm is a historical 1866 farmstead in the Kweekvallei. Re-created with passion and fun over the past five years, this 3-hectare farm organically grows an abundance of vegetables, fruit, nuts, berries, olives and Grenache vines. Freshly harvested produce and products will be available for purchase – being inspired is free!

A visual and tangible feast of aloes, Karoo succulents, and inspiring driftwood creations will awaken your gardening senses, the tranquil space harmonising with the natural surrounds regardless the season. Wander the rock-lined walkways accompanied by birdsong and lose yourself in the dreamy Karoo wonderland Patrick and Jenny have lovingly created.
Klippiesvlei
Viv, Renée, Pam and Cynthia
Wild and wonderful Klippiesvlei surprises and delights at every turn - unruly and untamed in most places, manicured and controlled in others. Grasses, indigenous flowers and shrubs, small orchards of deciduous and citrus trees, herbs, vegetables, and some English garden inspired nooks offer a bit of everything in this ‘in progress’ space.
Kraal

Be transported to a Karoo wonderland where every turn offers a new sensory garden experience. Acacia-filled savannah grasslands offset an eco-dam surrounded by local shrubs and wildlife, the next turn leads past aloes, a working nursery, and an orchard opening to a more formal garden with old kraal walls.
The Karoo Garden Collective
Kraal, Veld, and Karoo Huis
A thoughtfully connected trio of gardens forming one continuous, wild landscape on the edge of town. Designed with indigenous plants and low-intervention principles, each space tells its own story of beauty, resilience, and biodiversity. Shaded forests, meandering stone paths, and an eco-dam alive with birdlife create moments of serenity, while creeping spekboom, aloes, and hardy shrubs root the gardens firmly in their Karoo context. Together, they offer a shared vision of living lightly on the land.

A garden born out of ingenuity to redirect water away from the house during heavy rains, this raised sidewalk succulent garden is as sustainable as it is practical. Green-fingered Joey has lovingly created a space which not just beautifies his home, but a space for all residents of Buitekant Street to appreciate.
Karoo Tuin

The love poured into this little Karoo garden is tangible. Maria oversees the creativity and care of the decorative succulent garden out front, while Galvin tends to the food garden behind their home, together they are a formidable team ensuring a beautiful outdoor space working in unison with what nature offers.

Renu-Karoo Nursery

In the Renu-Karoo Nursery and gardens you will discover plants ideal for Karoo and Renosterveld areas. Many have never previously been propagated and made available to gardeners. These include dwarf succulents, Karoo shrubs with naturally rounded shapes, 50 species of indigenous Pelargoniums, grasses and reeds, aromatic and medicinal plants.
Art Garden at Karoo Souk
A group of local Prince Albert artists collaborate and create a visual experience in response to the enchanting garden at the Karoo Souk, an oasis for creativity in the Karoo! Art ranging from painting, sculpture, ceramics, glass art, found objects, and mixed media will be on display and for sale.
The Secret Garden at Prince Albert Country Stay
In the centre of town, tucked behind a beautiful antique store, you will find The Secret Garden. Birdsong welcomes guests to this secluded English country garden where warm buttermilk scones are served with local guernsey cream, apricot jam, and true Prince Albert hospitality.
